A Mission Born From Khidmat-e-Khalq
Mohsin E Azam Mission did not begin as an organisation. It began as one man's conviction that serving people is itself a form of worship — the conviction of its founder, Syed Hasan Askari Ashraf Aljilani.
Raised in the Sufi tradition of the Qadri–Ashrafi path, he inherited a principle that has guided this lineage for nearly a thousand years: khidmat-e-khalq — service to creation. In this way of life, feeding the hungry, tending the ill, and standing beside the forgotten are not charity handed downward; they are devotion offered upward. The Sufis teach that all creation is the family of God — and the most beloved servant is the one most useful to that family.
“I examined every act of goodness, and I found none greater than feeding the hungry.” — Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani, Ghawth al-A'zam
The great saint of Baghdad — whose name the founder carries — would say that had the wealth of the whole world been placed in his hands, he would have spent it feeding the hungry. That teaching is the seed from which this mission's first and most beloved work grew: the Ashrafi Tiffin Service, a warm meal delivered daily, with dignity and without conditions.
From that single tiffin the khidmat widened — education support for struggling students, medical camps for those whom care could not reach, relief for families in crisis — across 22+ cities today. His founding belief still stands at the head of everything this trust does: Mission ka Maqsad, Qoum ki khidmat — the Mission's purpose is the service of the people.
